Our clients wanted a new master bath to incorporate a salvaged claw foot tub, a separate double head shower, a double vanity, and a private toilet area.  They also requested a lot of closet space and if possible a window seat. The existing master bedroom is on the second floor in the back corner.  Setbacks prevented us from building to the side of the house and an earlier addition to the rear complicated the plan in that direction.  We solved the problem of a long walkway to the new bath by creating a series of smaller spaces each with a different feature.  Below the Master bath we created a lovely screened in porch directly adjacent to the kitchen and rear open deck with a new redwood trellis. The addition features hydronic radiant floor heating utilizing the existing house boiler, salvaged wide plank wood floors and salvaged windows.
